Happy Easter

We had a very "sophisticated" Easter egg hunt for gentry yesterday! We went to the park with some friends and threw down about 8 eggs, that each had about 2 jelly beans inside! Oh, but she had such a good time! After she picked up two, that's all her little hands could carry so she just walked around with two eggs the entire time. She liked the way the sounded when she shook them. We would try to get her to put them in the basket, but she would have none of that! "How could we take her eggs away", she implied!
Soon enough, discovered that "shaking" sound was candy inside!

Dinner Time Battle: Pancakes vs. Vegetables

If you know Gentry, you know that any mealtime is never a battle. This girl can eat any toddler under the table. So the "dinner time battle" i am talking about was not a battle to get Gentry to eat, it was more a battle between what was on her plate: pancakes vs. vegetables. I gave gentry her plate with green beans, olives, and chic peas on one side; the other side : mini-pancakes with grape jelly, any little kids dream. It took her about a minute to finish off the vegetables, the pancakes, no such luck. She licked one of the pancakes, and set it back down. I ripped a little piece off thinking maybe she wanted it in smaller pieces. Oh no, she was having no mini-pancakes with grape jelly. She refused the mini-pancakes with jelly. All along, i am eating chicken noodle soup, and like a perfectly hypocritical mom, am not eating the carrots or celery. So, i spoon them onto Gentry's plate. GONE...and she is begging for more. WHAT?! Is this girl normal? Clearly the vegetables won this battle. I've got to get this girl into sweets, who knows, maybe she's going to be a vegan.

Not to mention, she sucked with a straw the remaining broth from my soup. Seriously!

Winter Park

We spent our spring break in winter park, swimming, snowshoeing, boarding (alex, of course, not me as i despise strapping on long sticks to my feet and heading face first down a steep hill), and of course watching "March Madness" It was a great time of relaxing and just getting away from the "every day."
We headed to Hot Sulfur Springs, CO, and took a soak in the pools. The name quite well describes the smell of the place, but it was relaxing, and you kind of just get used to the smell!
Also, i thought these icicles were quite dramatic and couldn't help but taking their pictures!

Spring Snow

You can always count on a spring snow here in Colorado. Just when you think spring is actually here to stay, BAM.... comes 2 inches of snow. I do think the snow is pretty and provides much needed moisture, but I will take sun and heat any day over slushy cold snow. Not to fear, the weather here is bipolar, and most likely the snow will be gone tomorrow with highs in the 60's!

I will be adding some before and after photos of our house projects on picasa. If you care to look, just click on the right hand side of the blog "Knecht Family Pictures" I have decided to pace myself on projects. I was getting way overwhelmed and frustrated that things weren't "done" Well, yeah right, this house will probably never be "done", so I decided it a good idea to, oh, i don't know, eat and sleep, rather than always working! Just me to be a busy body, though!

Always in the Action

This picture is pretty typical of how we get projects done around here. Gentry always right in the action! Effie is usually right there with her, but she was outside during this project!
We bought a set of "new" appliances off of craigslist last weekend. You can see Alex working on the fridge, and i have been washing every dish by hand because the dishwasher won't cycle. Oh well, I guess that's what you get for buying off craigslist. I can't help it though, you can get such great deals! Really they are great appliances, they had been sitting in storage all winter, probably with water in the hoses.
We have slowed down quite a bit on our house. The rooms that we need right now are done with the exceptions of pictures and other decor. Alex is going to take a stab at tiling our dining room. He has done some tiling projects, just none this big! I am sure it will look great. I will post some pictures of our projects soon!

By the way... did you notice Gentry's "bulldog" shirt?! Thanks Aunt Aimee!!

Conforming to Her Instinctual Role...

as philosophical as the title may sound, i just think it's funny that gentry spent her morning "feeding" her new baby doll and "working" in her new kitchen. she went back and forth between the doll, making sure she got her "milky", and the kitchen, putting items in the refrigerator. it amazes me over the course of a year, what she is influenced by, and how she plays these things out in her own small life. i am sure there is only more of this to come!
