we are headed deep into the mountains(crested butte) for a week! well, really we are about 12 miles out of town but it feels so secluded. i am excited for no internet access or cell phone coverage. just time to relax, hike, hang with family, and enjoy God's peaceful and beautiful creations. i'll be back with beautiful pictures, we always take tons!

Surprise Daddy!!!
Alex turns the big 3-0 this weekend! I planned a surprise trip to Vegas for him, and five other guys. The first surprise was that he was going with his brother and friend, and the second surprise was that there were a few more of his friends waiting for him in Vegas! He didn't find out about the trip until about 3 hours before it was time to head to the airport. Gentry and I went to his office and surprised him. He was thoroughly surprised and so excited. If you know Alex, you know how he loves Vegas. He is bold, yet responsible and knows his limits. Don't worry he's not one to dip into our life savings!

Austin, TX...Here we come!
My great friend Kayt and I ventured down to Austin to visit a friend,Lara,who moved there awhile ago from Ft. Collins. She has 2 kids of her own and Kayt and I each brought one! It's always great having time to spend with old friends and catching up. We spent a couple afternoons at Lara's in-laws amazing house, that has an amazing pool. One afternoon we were able to get all four kids down for their naps all at the same time. We ended up with about 2 1/2 hours all to ourselves. Pool or no pool, that in itself was amazing!!
There is great outlet shopping in Austin, and we were able to hit up some stores one day. There's even and IKEA at the mall, and believe or not the phanatic I am for IKEA (and kayt too for that matter) we didn't even make it there. SO SAD.

Pretty Flowers and Our Pyscho Dog.
My mother-in-law found these pretty pretties in our back yard the other day! Yeah, our yard is pretty much a disaster, and I hadn't even been looking for things to actually bloom. But we got them just in time to adorn the kitchen for a few days.
On another note, our dog is officially pyscho, or at least was for a moment this afternoon. She has always been skiddish around things that have motors, like lawn mowers, vacuum cleaners, chain saws, etc... Well today, we were out in the backyard working, and Alex's dad fired up the chain saw and Effie went crazy. She darted across the yard, and jumped up at the chain saw, WHILE IT WAS RUNNING!! It happened so fast, no one even knew what was going on. She ran away from it really fast with blood gushing from her mouth. LUCKILY, she only got three cuts on her lip and chin. I mean, her whole face could have been sawed off, or her jugular cut into if she would have gone in at the right angle. We didn't think it was deep enough for stitches, so we just put some Neosporin on it. She is not allowed outside anymore while we are working with power tools! YIKES...

Fun Times.
I found these pictures on one of my camera cards today that i had forgotten about. I wanted to post these a few weeks ago, and it just slipped my mind. Anyway, this is Gentry and her friend Rafe playing in Gentry's room. He came over one day and I put a gate up across Gentry's door, and just let them go at it! This was the result!!! It took awhile to clean up, but they were entertained for a good hour, and I was able to get some things done!Rafe is about 13 months older than Gentry, but they get along soooo well, as long as there's no food involved! They are both very protective of their snacks, and there always seem to be issues when they are "snacking" together. Besides that, they "play" really well together and we always find them just cracking each other up.
P.S. Do you love Gentry's attire or what? I got her these slippers at a garage sale, and they are by no means the cutest things ever, but she loves them.
